Molotov Cocktail Attack on Russian Cultural Center in Prague
Igor Girenko, the center’s director, told reports that the attackers aimed at the library windows, noting that half of the six incendiary devices failed to ignite. “It’s hard to imagine what the consequences would have been if these inhumane men had succeeded,” he said.
Girenko also suggested that the timing of the assault was deliberate, coinciding with the final event of the Russian Culture Days festival. “Only inhuman creatures would target culture! We are well acquainted with their habits and signature,” he added, expressing gratitude to local police and firefighters who responded swiftly. “We believe this crime will not go unsolved, and that those responsible will receive a harsh and just punishment.”
Pavel Shevtsov, deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo—the Russian state cultural exchange agency operating the center—described the incident as “a terrorist attack against our Rossotrudnichestvo center, against Russian property,” calling it “a planned, targeted attack.”
